‘RHONJ’ alum Lauren Manzo claps back at body shamers following 100-pound weight loss

Lauren Manzo slammed haters on social media who talked poorly about her after she lost 100 pounds.

The “Real Housewives of New Jersey” alum responded to several Instagram users after she posted a video featuring four photos of her in bikinis while explaining how she used body sculpting to help tighten her “extra skin” after her weight loss.

Shortly after sharing the video on Friday, Manzo began clapping back at people.

“I wish you would also promote the important of dieting and exercising on top of the body sculpting! Sculpting doesn’t prevent heart disease! Healthy dieting and exercise does!” one person wrote.

Manzo, 36, defended herself and revealed she has “been going to a functional” medicine doctor who has helped her with “gut” and diet for the last two years.

“I talk constantly about my functional medicine Dr and my major lifestyle changes to my health,” she reiterated.

After one person wrote that she does “not even look like [herself] anymore,” Manzo bluntly responded, “I was 100lbs heavier and very u healthy [sic]. So I hope not.”

Manzo also denied getting a tummy tuck and pointed out that she does “not have a tummy tuck belly button.”

“Holy s–t. Thought this was someone in their 60s,” someone else wrote, to which she clapped back, “I feel bad that your fiancé is marrying a bitch 😢.”

Manzo later shared a six-minute TiKTok video talking about the negative comments on her social media. laurenmanzo/TikTok

Shortly after replying to some of the haters, Manzo addressed the “hateful” language in a lengthy TikTok video on Saturday.

The mom of one made the video in response to someone commenting under one of her previous videos, “and… she’s still eating.”

“Just because I am, according to you guys, a public figure,” she said with air quotes, “does not mean I’m public property, so it’s like I’m treated like I’m public property, but I’m not.”

“I think I’ve become so OK with saying it’s OK … It’s not OK,” she said of the social media hate. Lauren Manzo/Instagram

Manzo explained that she’s been used to receiving “disheartening” comments since starring on “RHONJ” when she was 20 years old, but she’s recently had an “aha moment.”

“I think I’ve become so OK with saying it’s OK … It’s not OK,” she said.

The “Manzo’d with Children” alum even admitted that she wouldn’t be on social media if she “didn’t make money off it” because “you guys are so mean, and it’s not good for anyone’s mental health at all.”

Manzo also owned up to being her “own worst critic” and struggling with “body dysmorphia.” Instagram

“I can’t win, and that’s OK, because truthfully I am happy. Do I know and am I fully aware of my body image issues? Absolutely. I know that I am my own worst critic. I know that I have body dysmorphia, that I don’t think I look as good as I do often. I am aware of those things, but those are my battles to fight, and I don’t really know why anybody thinks that they have the right to comment something terrible on my stuff or anybody else’s,” she continued.

Manzo also confessed that some of the users are “right” and she thinks she is “too skinny” and has been trying to figure out how to have a “healthy relationship with my weight.”

The former Bravolebrity has previously been open while discussing her struggles with her weight and told Page Six in May 2023 that she used weight loss drug Mounjaro to lose 30 pounds after previously shedding 50 pounds by avoiding gluten and dairy.

“You guys have seen me struggle with this since I’m 20 years old, and it’s been really hard for me, and I’ve lost a lot of weight from being on that whole ‘Ozempic’ thing,” she told us at the time.

Manzo has continued to show her weight loss journey and defend her body transformation. In February, she made a similar response video after someone wrote it was “sad” that they didn’t recognize her anymore.

“What’s sad? Like, is it sad that I’m finally at a healthy weight? I’m just confused,” she said in a TikTok video and later added, “I’m fine. This isn’t sad. I just ate a ciabatta sandwich with a bunch of deli meat on it, a load of mayonnaise and Fritos. I’m fine.”
