Although the list of world champions in wrestling increases as the years go on, so many wrestlers will never get their hands on a single one. Savage managed to do it not once, but six different times (winning in both WWE and WCW no less too). Savage was such a huge star of WWE in the late 1980s and early 1990s, headlining WrestleMania against the likes of Hulk Hogan and Ted DiBiase. His two WWE World Championship wins were iconic, though his WCW wins were less memorable.

His reigns were much shorter (two being just a day long) and he failed to retain his spot, though the same can be said for many top stars in WCW as the company loved playing hot potato with the World Heavyweight Championship.

It was in his early twenties that Randy Savage started his professional wrestling journey, swapping out a baseball career for the ring. He would spend thirty years in the business, competing in territories before signing with WWE, WCW, and later competing in TNA too. It was in 2004 that he had his last match at the age of 52, teaming with AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy to take on Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Jeff Jarrett at Turning Point.

Although many wrestlers have continued on into their 50s, and in some cases even their 60s, Savage wouldn’t ever make it back into the ring before his passing. Like many in this harsh and cruel business, Savage passed away at the relatively early age of 58 in 2011.
