Andorra la VellaThe Police is launching this Friday a new traffic safety campaign aimed at motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles and personal mobility vehicles (VMP).
The controls will be carried out between May 10 at seven in the morning and May 31 at seven in the afternoon with the aim of verifying the technical and administrative conditions of these vehicles, as well as detecting imprudence or violations in driving to avoid accidents.
And these tend to be dates when the use of these means of transport increases and, in parallel, there is also an increase in police interventions due to accidents with injuries and complaints about noise on public roads.
From the arrival of the good weather, therefore, begins a critical period in terms of accidents on the roads. It should be borne in mind that the drivers of this type of vehicle are more vulnerable and that, consequently, in the accidents in which they are involved, in a very high percentage, they are injured.
It is for this reason and to influence prevention and good coexistence on the road network, that specific controls will be carried out on both urban and interurban roads.
The Police will verify, among others, that no noise, gases and pollutants exceeding those established in the regulations are emitted; that you have a driving license, insurance, valid MOT badge; that the tyres, exhaust pipes and mirrors are in good condition, that the regulations regarding the transport of passengers are complied with; that approved gloves and properly strapped helmets are used, and that all the rules provided for by the Traffic Code are respected to guarantee correct driving, avoid reckless behavior and reduce the number of accidents.
