North Dublin pub makes cheeky offer to Leinster fans heading to Croke Park for sold-out Northampton clash

THE BACK PAGE is promising a free pint to any Leinster fan who shows up on Saturday with a bag from Brown Thomas.

Leinster’s core southside fanbase will have to migrate across the Liffey as The Aviva Stadium is being readied to host the Europa League final.

But their upcoming Champions Cup semi-final against Northampton Saints is shaping up to be an extra memorable occasion as Croker sold out within hours.

So with 82,300 supporters on the way to Jones’ Road, one innovative boozer has come up with a tempting offer to get people to stop in along the way.

The Back Page on Phibsborough Road has vowed to provide a free pint to anyone who shows up with the stereotypical accessory for a posh rugby fan.

Their promotional Instagram post added: “Welcoming your Leinster lions to the (northside) jungle.

“Kick-off 5:30pm with food/drinks in our before and after. Match on all the tellies too.”

Leinster fans coming from the south side will have to factor in that there will be disruptions to the DART service.

Maintenance works will ensure no trains will run from Bray to Grand Canal Dock.

In total, 13 stations will be closed off.

Irish Rail defended the decision since Bank Holiday weekends are the least disruptive times to carry out works.

In addition to that, the move was arranged in December, months before it arose that Croker would be stepping in as a temporary host for such a huge match.

Spokesman Barry Kenny told The Irish Independent that alternative public transport services like buses and Luas services will be increased.

“There will be significant enhanced capacity across the bus services and Luas servicers as well to meet that demand.

“There will also be extra Darts from Howth to Grand Canal Dock, and extra Maynooth and Drogheda trains which directly serve Croke Park.

“There is a significant amount of resources committed to these works.”
