‘Nobody knows about it’ – drivers urged to pick up ‘dirt cheap’ Toyota that’s the ‘best used car’ on the market

A MECHANIC has urged motorists to pick up a “dirt cheap” Toyota that he claims is the “best used car” on the market.

The model was discontinued a couple of years ago but is still a fixture of Britain’s roads today.

Scotty Kilmer, who has worked on motors for 50 years, took to his YouTube channel to share the underappreciated car with his viewers.

He highly recommended snapping up a Toyota Prius V hybrid while you still can.

The model, known as the Prius + in the UK, works off a “perfected” petrol hybrid system.

Scotty said: “They only made these things for a few years.

“They last a long time…the hybrid system just keep evolving to get better and better.

“Toyota pretty much has perfected it.

“It’s extremely efficient…they can last almost infinitely.”

Try that with an electric car range, you would never even get close to what this thing could do.

The car makes use of an unusual “planetary” transmission in which gear cogs orbit a central driveshaft, effectively making it an automatic.

At low speed, the 60kW electric motor will cruise you around in serene silence.

Step on it, though, and the 98-horsepower inline-four engine will take over and can reach over 100mph.

The Prius hybrid lineup also featured a pretty advanced regenerative braking system, so you can keep the battery ticking along as you come off the pedal.

Scotty added: “Toyota has sold millions of these things worldwide.

“They know what they’re doing…they just keep improving it over time.

“The new ones can easily get 55mpg.

“Try that with an electric car range, you would never even get close to what this thing could do.”

Amazingly, they are available online at absolute bargain prices, with some even dropping as low as £3,995.

And a 2012 model with just 65,000 miles on it will only cost you just £8,000.
