Museums managed by the Government will be free this May 18

Andorra la VellaThe Museums of Andorra join the celebration of the International Day of Museums 2024 (DIM), promoted by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and which takes place on 18 May. The motto chosen by ICOM for this year is ‘Museums for education and research’. In Andorra, several activities have been scheduled in order to open the museum heritage to the public during the indicated date.

This initiative reaffirms that museums are also dynamic educational centers that encourage curiosity, creativity and critical thinking in citizens. And that from art and history to science and technology, museums are vital spaces where education and research converge to shape our understanding of the world. For this reason, this year’s theme aims to underline the fundamental role of cultural institutions in providing a holistic educational experience.

Thus, in the case of the museums managed by the Government, the following facilities will remain open for free on May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.: the Casa de la Vall, the Museu Casa d ‘Areny-Plandolit, the Casa Rull Museum, the Rossell Forge, the National Automobile Museum of Andorra and the Columba Space. The latter will also feature the free activity “The key to Santa Coloma. Joc de Pistes”, at 12 o’clock. As for the proposed activities, Casa Cristo organizes night visits with candles and traditional musical accompaniment by the Andorran guitarist, David Font.
