Model Alicia Douvall shares anti-aging tips – she’s a ‘big believer’ in trading creams for another item to stop wrinkles

MODEL and Celebrity Big Brother star Alicia Douvall has shared several anti-aging tips to achieve a more youthful appearance.

She said she’s a firm believer in swapping out creams for oils in her skincare routine and the benefits speak for themselves.

Former Celebrity Big Brother UK star and Douvall’s Skincare co-founder Alicia Douvall has encountered her fair share of dos and don’ts.

She shared some anti-aging advice that anyone can follow with The U.S. Sun.

SPF SITUATION

Douvalls emphasized the importance of protecting your skin from the sun.

“Always wear an SPF with broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection,” she said.

According to the former plastic surgery addict, a natural Zinc SPF gives instant sun protection when applied versus chemical SPF that takes time to work.

She also said to apply your sunscreen on the plane especially especially if you get a window seat.

“Did you know you still get UVA rays penetrating through the windows of the airplane, which can cause skin aging, so apply your sunscreen before getting on the plane!” she explained.

MOISTURE MAGIC

Douvall also said that aging skin is dry skin so it’s “all about putting enough moisture into your skin and body to plump it out.”

Some examples include watermelon, cucumber, grapefruit, oranges, lettuce, and celery.

“Hydration is key for maintaining skin elasticity,” Douvall added.

There is a lot to be said about an anti-inflammatory diet, but Douvail said anti-inflammatory skincare is important too.

“The less chemicals you put on your skin the better,” she added.

That is exactly why she explained that hormone patches work so well because “what we put on our skin goes into our body.”

“If you over-complicate your skincare with chemicals your body doesn’t know what to do with it and your cells have to work hard,” she added.

Douvall has a simple rule of them when it comes to skincare.

“If you can’t eat it you generally don’t want to put it on your skin,” she said. 

Dermatologist-approved anti-aging tips

Dermatologist Dr. Brendan Camp shared his dermatologist-approved tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Stop using tanning beds.
  • Don’t use sunscreen to contour your face.

OILS VERSUS CREAMS

“I am a big believer in using oils instead of creams,” Douvall said.

She explained that creams are at least 60 to 85% water, whereas oils are deeply hydrating and contain antioxidants, fatty acids, and vitamins.

Oils not only nourish but protect and repair skin.

She also said that they protect against free radicals that can accelerate the aging process.

This in turn, strengthens the skin barrier and retains moisture and resists external stressors.
