Met Eireann give ‘high pressure building’ update as temperatures to hit 18C in bank holiday change

MET Eireann has said a dry and sunny day is on the cards for most areas today as high pressure begins to build.

Forecaster Brandon Creagh said it’s set to become “settled” over the next few days.

He said: “Mist and fog will clear later this morning. Most areas will be dry with sunny spells today.

“It will be cloudy at times in the north and northeast and near the south coast, with some showers possible.

“Highest temperatures of 13 to 18C with light to moderate northeasterly or variable winds.

“Cloud will increase from the north tonight, bringing scattered showers.

“Lowest temperatures of 4 to 10C, coldest in the southeast where clearest skies are expected.

“Mist and fog will form in light to moderate northwesterly or variable winds.”

Bank Holiday Monday is also set to be a nice day with some sunny spells and temperatures reaching 17C.

“Tomorrow morning will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and patches of mist and fog.

“It will become drier through the day and some sunny spells will develop.

“Highest temperatures of 12 to 17C, mildest in the south, with light to moderate north to northwest winds.

“Tuesday looks to be a brighter and drier day with cloudy conditions in the west during the morning, giving way to good spells of sunshine. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17C, in a light northerly breeze.”

Mercury will rise again on Wednesday and Thursday to a warm 19C.

Brandon added: “Bright and largely dry with long spells of sunshine on Wednesday, and just patches of rain and drizzle possible in the west at times.

“Highest temperatures of 13 to 19C, in a light to moderate south to southwest wind.

“A largely dry day with isolated showers over the northern half of the country on Thursday.

“Likely mostly cloudy too with the odd sunny spell. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19C, with light variable winds.”
