To organize this market, the Consistory temporarily suspends VUT licensing and it will not authorize the modification of commercial premises to housing of this type. In addition, it toughens the sanctions for VUTs that do not comply with the regulations: the first will be 30,000 euros, the second will be 60,000 and the third will be 100,000, potentially accumulating 190,000 euros in penalties.
The number of inspectors will be increased by 15%, up to 75, to pursue homes for tourist use that are not legal. The City Council is launching this action plan while preparing the modification of the General Plan with which the VUT market will be organized in the capital, which will come into force, predictably, in the first half of 2025.
