Wrestling fans hoping to see WWE WrestleMania take place in England will be pleased today as London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan has pledged his commitment to trying to bring the show to the capital city.

Sadiq Khan Wants A UK WrestleMania

The Grandest Stage Of Them All taking place in England is something that has been talked about amongst fans for years, particularly since the company has begun putting on major events internationally. However, Khan has now made it clear that he wants to bring the show to England’s capital city.

London has played host to some major wrestling events throughout the past, most recently with AEW’s All In – which will run at Wembley Stadium again this summer. However, Khan also wants to bring in WWE’s biggest event, which he’s made part of his manifesto should he be re-elected to the role as he told The Standard.

“I believe that London has the potential to host the first international WrestleMania.”

Whether Khan would be able to make that happen remains to be seen, but sport is at the heart of his current campaign and the fact that he publicly named WWE WrestleMania as part of that is a positive sign for European fans.

WWE Has Sent Out Contrasting Messages For A UK WrestleMania

While many fans would like to see WWE WrestleMania take place in London, particularly WWE Universe members in Europe, the company itself has sent out mixed signals regarding the possibility. There’s no denying that WWE has been aggressively targeting international dates, including putting on more shows in Europe with the company having several events this year taking place in the likes of France, Germany, and Scotland.

It has helped give hope to European fans about bigger shows taking place on their shores, and that was intensified when WWE last ran a show in England. WWE’s Money In The Bank last year saw John Cena make a surprise appearance where he made it clear he’s going to try and bring WWE WrestleMania to the country at some stage.

It’s something several wrestlers such as Drew McIntyre have talked openly about, yet Nick Khan recently provided a completely contrasting message. The WWE President claimed that the company will not be putting on WWE WrestleMania, or any of the other major events such as WWE SummerSlam internationally.

However, with London’s Mayor actively pushing to try to make it happen there is always going to be a chance, especially since events have been selling out whenever WWE goes international.
