Linda Evangelista attends Met Gala for the first time in nearly a decade

Linda Evangelista stepped out for fashion’s biggest night for the first time in nearly a decade.

The former supermodel, 58, returned to the 2024 Met Gala on Monday wearing a white set from Khaite.

Evangelista looked effortlessly chic in a draped silk gazar, which featured a high neckline and floor-length skirt.

Although the look didn’t have a clear connection to this year’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” the most important thing for Evangelista was comfort.

“It’s so dreamy and light—it’s light like a cloud,” she said of her dress during an interview with Vogue. “I feel so comfortable in it, and I’m really, really, really happy.”

She paired the look with sheer white gloves and tourmaline chandelier earrings made of different-toned green stones.

The 18-carat gold earrings contain 91 carats of tourmaline and diamonds.

“When I saw them, I almost died,” Evangelista told the outlet.

The legendary model graced the Met steps 11 times before her last appearance in 2015, when the theme was “China: Through the Looking Glass.”

The chameleon was dressed by Moschino’s Creative Director Jeremy Scott in a red-and-black dress with a massive bowtie on one shoulder.

Evangelista’s attendance at the star-studded event ended up being the last time she was seen at a public event for over six years.

In 2021, the ‘90s supermodel revealed she underwent a CoolSculpting fat-reduction procedure that left her “permanently deformed.”

Evangelista underwent seven sessions of CoolSculpting (a noninvasive procedure that is supposed to freeze fat cells) to her jawline, back, stomach and thighs from 2015 to 2016.

However, she later claimed the treatment “increased, not decreased” her fat cells. Despite undergoing two “painful, unsuccessful, corrective surgeries,” she was left “unrecognizable.”

Evangelista sued the cosmetic surgery company for $50 million in damages, claiming the botched procedure led to her developing paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) —  an enlarged and firm mass under the skin.

“PAH has not only destroyed my livelihood, it has sent me into a cycle of deep depression, profound sadness, and the lowest depths of self-loathing,” she shared, adding, “In the process, I have become a recluse.”

The model and CoolSculpting’s parent company, Zeltiq Aesthetics Inc., settled the case in 2022 for an undisclosed amount.

Since first opening up about the “catastrophe,” Evangelista has slowly made her way back into the public eye, making her return to the runwaymodeling on the cover of Vogue and now reclaiming her rightful spot amongst the stars at fashion’s biggest night.
