Lando Norris celebrates F 1 Miami win with insane dive into crew, champagne spike

They say you never forget your first, and Lando Norris celebrated his first Formula 1 win at Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix appropriately.

After reaching the podium for an F1-record 15 times without a win, Norris finally could call himself a champion after he edged out Max Verstappen by seven seconds for the victory.

Norris proceeded to do a stage dive into his team in celebration and then was tossed in the air repeatedly by them.

The McLaren driver also did the champagne pop on the stage as he celebrated the victory.

“Whooooooooooo, whooooooooo, I love you all,” Norris exclaimed over the radio after capturing the win at the Miami Grand Prix, according to Sky News

“Thank you so much. We did it, Will [Joseph, Norris’s race engineer]. We did it.

“I guess that is how it is done. Finally. Oh, I am so happy. I knew it when I came in this morning. I said today is the day, full of opportunities. I nailed it, you nailed it, thank you so much.

“Thanks Mum, thanks Dad, this one is for my grandma, thank you very much.”

In a show of sportsmanship, Max Verstappen, who had been leading for a portion of the race, applauded Norris for the win from the cockpit of his car.

Norris also received congratulations from former President and Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.

The two were photographed talking together after the race, though it wasn’t clear what they were saying.

The 45th president was also in the McLaren garage getting a tour before the race and was seen speaking with team CEO Zak Brown.

“McLaren is a nonpolitical organization however we recognize and respect the office of President of the United States so when the request was made to visit our garage on race day we accepted alongside the president of the FIA and the CEO’s of Liberty Media and Formula 1,” McLaren said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
