Kim Kardashian angered the masses when she showed up to the 2024 Met Gala in a painful-looking corset dress that cinched her waist to near obliteration.
The Skims founder ascended the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night in an intricate John Galliano for Maison Margiela gown that whittled her midsection to epic proportions.
While some fans poked fun at the grandma-like knit sweater she draped over the sophisticated silver garment, others were enraged that Kardashian, 43, once again went for a Met Gala look that set unrealistic beauty standards for her fans.
“I’m not saying the media is to blame for young women’s eating disorders but Kim Kardashian crushing her organs to be thin on a red carpet sure doesn’t f–king help,” one person wrote on X.
“F–k Kim Kardashian and her entire family for constantly pushing unachievable beauty standards,” a second chimed in.
“Kim Kardashian is literally struggling to walk and breathe because her waist is smaller than her neck and people are just taking photos of her like we should be proud of her for this what the actual f–k,” a third netizen wrote.
“Kim Kardashian with blue lips, barely able to breathe due to extreme corseting at #MetGala. Extreme corseting is an S/M practice, but is KK consenting? And should she be? This extreme look sends all kinds of wrong messaging,” another agreed.

Others flooded Kardashian’s Instagram post from the gala, labeling her getup “disgusting” and “ridiculous.”
The Hulu personality is not new to causing controversy with her waist-cinching fashion choices. She famously riled up critics when she turned up to the 2019 Met Gala in an impossibly tight wet dress by Thierry Mugler.
She later admitted to taking “corset breathing lessons” in order to fit her curves into the gown that made her waist nearly disappear.
In 2022, Kardashian angered the public once again when she fessed up to losing 16 pounds in just three weeks in order to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s Jean Louis dress for the gala.
The vintage look has been dubbed the world’s most expensive dress, having been auctioned for $4.8 million, and was the exact gown the late movie star wore while singing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden in 1962.
Kardashian also said she cut out all carbs and sugar for nearly a month to slim down for the 2022 look.
Not only was the reality star lambasted for her unhealthy weight-loss tactics, but she was also accused of damaging the fashion artifact, which she denied.
