Kanye West sued for racist attitudes against his black employees

A former employee of Kanye West has sued him for allegedly having racist attitudes against his black workers, as well as for firing him for refusing to shave his head to work, according to various media publications USA.

The complaint was filed by Benjamin Deshon Provo, who started working in August 2021 as a security guard at the rapper’s Christian school, called Donda Academy. According to Provo, that job caused him “severe emotional distress.”

“Kanye and members of his management team subjected Provo and other black employees to less favorable treatment than their white counterparts“says the lawsuit.

Carlos Sobera and Patricia Santamarina, on the presenter's Instagram.

“Kanye frequently yelled and berated black employees, while conversely he never raised his voice toward white staff,” the allegations against the rapper say. “He was consistently brusque, abrasive, and degrading toward the plaintiff and his African-American counterparts.“, they allege.

Furthermore, at one point, Kanye decided that the staff should have shaved heads, something the employee, who wore dreadlocks as an expression of his Muslim religion, refused. “In fact, under Kanye’s direction, Provo was given the ultimatum: cut his hair or be fired.“the lawsuit says. He refused to cut his hair, so he was fired.

“Also, Kanye regularly expressed negative beliefs associated with prominent black leaders who defended or sought to advance the black community”, such as Martin Luther King Jr. or Malcolm X.
