Jinder Mahal Among Several WWE Releases, Stars React To Departures

News is breaking on Friday night that WWE has released several stars. Xyon Quinn, Jinder Mahal, and Xia Li have all been reportedly released by the company. Mahal and Xia Li both commented on their exits on social media.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise as there was no talk of talent cutbacks. That said, none of these stars were doing much on any of the major company brands.

Li thanked fans on social media, writing:

It has been over seven years since I joined WWE, and as the first female Chinese superstar, I feel incredibly proud! I am sincerely grateful to WWE and HHH for welcoming me into this big family.

During this valuable time, I have not only grown tremendously but also learned countless invaluable experiences. Thank you for your trust and the opportunities you have given me to break barriers and set an example.

She sent a special thank you to all the coaches, colleagues, and staff who have helped me along the way, especially for helping her in a foreign land. She thanked the fans as well. “This is not the end but a new beginning! Let’s embrace more exciting moments together!, she noted.

Xia Li joined WWE in 2017 and found the most success in NXT. She also spent time on Raw, and SmackDown but never really gained any traction on either show.

Tony Khan Has Created A Mick Foley Moment For WWE And Jinder Mahal [Theory]

Tony Khan may have inadvertently created a groundswell of support for Jinder Mahal that hasn’t been seen since the time WCW trashed Mick Foley.

Mahal’s response was a lot less detailed. Likely still in character, he noted, “I Quit. Maharaja Out.” His release might shock some considering he was recently used in segments with The Rock and Seth Rollins and then drew attention from AEW because he hadn’t won a match in a year, but was suddenly battling for the World Title. The press brought in a ton of eyeballs for WWE and Mahal was suddenly a fan favorite. However, he disappeared again shortly after that short run.

He was last the manager of Indus Sher. It will be intriguing to see how that team is booked moving forward.

Will More WWE Releases Be Coming?

WWE has not undergone major talent releases since its merger and takeover by TKO. This is the first time that multiple names have been cut at the same time. In the past, these releases have come in waves.
