WWE WrestleMania 40 featured some classic matches, but one that didn’t reach the expected level was the battle of the brothers between Jimmy and Jey Uso. The disappointment from the fans is a feeling that Jey has understood, as he recently revealed.
Jey Uso Feels They Let Fans Down
The encounter between the brothers is one that had been building for months, which led most fans to think it would be a hard-hitting match. However, it ended up being more about trading superkicks which failed to get over with the fans, including Jimmy’s daughter who he yelled at to watch the match during the encounter.
10 Tag Teams With Real Life Brothers, Ranked
These siblings dominated the tag team division and can stake their claim as the best brother duos in wrestling history.
The match was critically panned afterward, with most people including Dave Meltzer voting it to be the worst of the two-night event. Despite the build and the obvious chemistry between the brothers, the encounter was unable to live up to the hype, and that is something Jey Uso has spoken about to Gorilla Position.
“I kinda felt like we did let the people down. I wanted to go out there and have a straight-up banger too. I wanted to do the wrestling part but let alone make sure the emotion part is there. It was just a time issue. You know what I’m saying? You just gotta play your position on the team. That’s what happened. I’m still happy though, uce, I got a singles match at WrestleMania with my brother. That’s a big picture. So, I’mma always have me and him in a face-off at WrestleMania. I’mma frame a picture, that’s always, it’s marked off our box. I just wish we could have went the way I know we can.” (H/T

The Usos Had Their Time Cut
The match was one of the shortest on night one of WWE WrestleMania 40, and that’s something that could’ve played an impact on the quality of the encounter. Jey revealed that their time was cut before heading out to the ring which no doubt left them having to scramble to cut different elements.
“Oh, yeah. ‘Yo, yo, man, they went over this many minutes. Sorry, sorry, You know, it’s all good, you know. Just go out there and handle business.”
Jey Uso did ultimately pick up the victory, despite his feelings on the encounter. Since then he’s been able to kick on to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. Meanwhile, his brother has been taken out of the group by the debuting Tama Tonga leaving his future uncertain.
