IRELAND AM hosts have been left speechless after a “picturesque” painting segment turned into a “disaster” on air.
Popular co-hosts Muireann O’Connell, Tommy Bowe and Alan Hughes were back on screens for another fun-filled show.
However, the TV hosts were left with no words when an outdoor painting segment took an unfortunate turn.
Tommy introduced presenter Deric Hartigan who was “braving” the weather at Howth Pier, where a group of painters from Dublin Art Classes were taking part in an outdoor paint class.
As Deric appeared on the screen he agreed with Tommy as he said: “Braving the elements is right, the wind is hitting here and the rain is pouring down, but it’s all about painting here.”
In the background, a very grey, stormy pier could be seen along with a dozen painters trying to get through their outdoor class with the wind blowing in their faces.
As Deric approached the art teacher, Catherine, she hilariously remarked that the painters were getting “great effects” on their canvases with the weather.
Catherine then revealed that she had to put a weight on her Easel so that he canvas wouldn’t blow away.
Deric then moved on to another painter who’s picture had “completely washed away” with the weather.
They both bursted into fits of laughter as he said: “Evelyn you’re beautiful painting is gone”.

As the interview’s continued, the camera began to get hit with the heavy rain causing the screen to go blurry.
Another woman revealed that she had “a helper holding an umbrella” to make sure her paint wouldn’t run off her canvas with the rain.
Painter, Polly also had a nightmare when her oil canvas became smudged and blurred with the rain droplets.
Deric then moved onto Mary who told him she had a “total disaster” with her painting as “oil paint and water don’t mix”.
As he made his way back to the art teacher, Catherine, she humorously admitted that it was “a day to remember”.
When Deric panned back to Muireann, Tommy and Alan in the Virgin Media studio’s, the three hosts looked completely shocked.
Alan immediately said: “Oh. My. God. I mean it’s lovely and dry in here?”
Muireann then added: “Good on you all for staying outside and I loved Mary for saying it as it is ‘It’s a disaster’.”
The Limerick presenter then apologised to the painters for having to endure the stormy weather.
She added: “We are very sorry and we will hopefully be getting you all sorted with tea and coffee very shortly to warm you up.”
