“In the four games we have been superior”

FC Barcelona fell this Saturday against Girona in Montilivi by a resounding 2-4, the same result that the people from Girona endorsed the culés in the first round in Montjuic. Asked why his team should improve, Xavi Hernández assured that his team must “compete better”, but considered that in “the four games of the two rivals who are above, we have been superior“.

“Many things, competing better. If you have the game under control, in your hands,” said Xavi at a press conference when he was asked about the points to improve. The Catalan coach insisted that “this is how I have experienced it on many occasions this season, without going any further, the four games of the two rivals that are above us, We have been superior, but it is not shown on the scoreboard“.

In this sense, the culé coach, who lost 2-4 against Girona in both matches and 1-2, in Montjuic, and 3-2, at the Bernabéu, against Real Madrid, pointed out that “They are our mistakeswhen you have a controlled match, the two from Madrid and the two from Girona, and they escape you, you lose all four, then we have to improve a lot“.

Xavi was “sad and disappointed” after the defeat against Girona, because “we have seen both sides of the coin.” Regarding the crash, the Catalan pointed out that “It was a brilliant match until the 60th minute”in which “the lack of effectiveness kills us and then specific, individual, fragrant errors, which do not correspond to the level of the players and the club.”

I am the first pissed off, before being a coach I am a culé. The message arrives, the first hour everyone understood what they had to do, but the errors that take their toll on us are what must be corrected,” he insisted.

“The three goals are our mistakes. I have the feeling that we give away the games. We have to improve a lot,” added the culé coach, who considered that “they are individual errors that also depend on giving them more confidence.”

Even so, Hernández highlighted that “the hour we did was brilliant” despite the fact that “the result doesn’t agree with you”and stressed that “the team tries until the end, but we have lost order.”

Xavi finished congratulating Real Madrid and promising a better future to the culé fan. “They have scored the most points, congratulating Real Madrid. We tell the fans that we are going to give our lives in these four games and next season to be able to fight for the titles,” he concluded.
