Elva caught up with The Irish Sun on the red-carpet at the IFTAs last Saturday night and spoke about how she overcomes her worries.

The 30-year-old explained: “Years of anxiety will do that to you, where you’re just trying your best to think logically and just get through it.

“It just takes time. We’re challenged everyday, getting out there and it’s challenging but it’s possible.”

The Irish star doesn’t like to watch herself on the big screen as she’s “very critical”.

Elva said: “I’m very, very, very [critical]. I don’t tend to watch it back unless I’m made.

“Or unless someone says something that particularly moved them and I’m like, ‘Oh I’d like to see it through their eyes maybe’.

“But it wouldn’t be my Saturday night thing.”

Elva was nominated for an IFTA Award for her lead role in the hit drama, Northern Lights, but lost out to Kin star Clare Dunne.

The Jurassic World Dominion star praised her fellow Irish actors before the ceremony saying: “It’s been a massive standout year for Ireland.

“Cillian Murphy getting the Oscar is absolutely outstanding and what a great ambassador for us.

“We’re doing good, thank god. We’re getting the recognition we deserve.”

SISTERLY ADVICE

We also caught up with Bad Sisters star Eve Hewson, who said she used to “cry her eyes out” when she got rejected for roles but said she “has a heart of stone now”.

The Dublin beauty, who is the daughter of U2 star Bono, has been acting since she was in her late teens and was recently nominated for an IFTA Award for her leading role in Flora and Son.

The 32-year-old confessed on the red-carpet: “I have a heart of stone at this point. I can’t feel anything anymore.

“When I was younger I used to cry my eyes out but now I’m just dead.

“One good piece of advice that I got which went on for years and years – when you get really, really close to a job and then you get heartbroken.

“And someone said to me, ‘If you’re getting close, it’s a matter of time’.”
