I transformed my tired council house bedroom into a luxury space – people can’t believe the items I used are from IKEA

WITH Spring fast approaching, many of us will be eager to give our homes a refresh.

One woman, however, has stunned social media by transforming her home into a luxurious space – with finds from Ikea and the high street.

It’s even more impressive, when you see the before photos of the dilapidated house.

Like many council house residents, Celene Francis had waited patiently for a home to become available for her young family.

When they did finally move into, the property was in a shocking state with peeling wallpaper, exposed floorboards and it was in desperate need of some TLC.

Rather than wait for assistance from the council though, the 25-year-old set about creating her dream home with thrifty finds.

Starting with the basics, the DIY whizz peeled away layers of outdated wallpaper and touched up the walls with a stunning pale walnut paint from Dulux.

Keen to give home a luxurious feel, she then had paneling cut to size at her local DIY shop.

Even the mum-of-one was shocked at how affordable they were, later revealing to fans in a viral Tiktok that they’d cost just £16 and she’d installed it behind her bed with a simple adhesive.

“Picked up some MDF from our local DIY store, I’ve had them made to measure…£16 for all of that, are you kidding?” She gushed, adding: “Sound as a pound.”

She wasn’t done giving her home a chic makeover though, with Celene then focusing on furnishing her bedroom.

Rather than splashing out on designer décor, the DIY whizz used pieces from Ikea’s Hemnes range such as a stunning side table and matching chest of drawers.

Taking inspiration from the Scandi store, Celene also injected a bit of greenery into the space with a large plant she’d found whilst shopping there.

Even her soft furnishings were chic, as she added a woven plant pot from H&M for more expensive feel.

Trawling the high street, she then found waffle texture bedding from B&M with a black trim – which fans couldn’t get enough of.

She kept costs down even further, with picture lights and coffee table books from Amazon.

Unsurprisingly, her Tiktok videos have racked up thousands of views with others inspired by the beautiful home.

One fan even wrote: “Honestly your interior designs have inspired me so much when I get my first forever home.”

Some wanted to recreate her look, with others asking where she found items that had given her home such a luxury look.

After learning that her bedding was from B&M, another user said: “Oh wow looks like Dusk or something equivalent looks really luxury! Just another reason to go B&M again now.”

Though Celene is in love with her new home, there is another reason why she is keen to share her story on social media.

In the comments, she told a follower: “I just want to break that stigma that comes with living in a council home.”

We think she’s definitely achieved her goal with this stunning transformation.
