He is asking for a social aid of 3,000 euros from the Government to rent a storage room

Andorra la VellaA woman made a request for social assistance to the Government with the aim of obtaining a retroactive aid, because she had already rented a storage room and was paying for it, in the amount of 3,075 euros in terms of the expenses generated . The government refused payment because the expenditure to which the aid is intended cannot be considered a basic subsistence need, especially when the premises are not part of the building where the woman resides.

The applicable regulations provide that “the granting of the occasional aid requested by the agent when it comes to attending to basic needs, a concept which cannot include the rental of a storage room which, moreover, is not located in the same property as the habitual residence of the interested party”.

The woman appealed indicating that “it has not been taken into account that the appellant suffers from an invalidity and therefore has particular and exclusive needs, among which is that of having a storage room to store her belongings”.

The Court overturned the appeal stating that “it is clear that the delayed expenses arising from the rental of a storage room cannot be considered from any perspective as a basic need or

subsistence This conclusion is reinforced by the fact that the agent has not justified in any way the reasons for which he needs additional storage space in his own home, especially when the storage room, as the contested resolution says, is in another different property”.
