700 agents of the Police Municipal of Madrid will be part of the security device this Sunday of the capital’s Marathon. They will be from the district units, central security units, special services, environmental units and the drone aerial support service, as explained by the vice mayor and spokesperson for the municipal government, Inma Sanz.
Furthermore, there will be 107 mobility agents to control traffic because, in this sense, there will be diversion of the lines of EMT and the lines of meter at the arrival and departure point of the race. Madrid residents will be able to consult the traffic diversions that are going to occur on the Madrid City Council website. In the case of Samur-Civil Protectionthere will be 175 troops with 49 units, both basic and advanced, to which are added three advanced health posts, two at the finish line and one in Casa de Campo, which make up one of the “most important security devices of the year along with the Kings Parade”.
116 bus lines will be affected
A total of 116 daytime lines managed by the Madrid Municipal Transport Company will be affected by the marathon. Some of them will suffer delays and will be subject to detours from the start of the test until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The assembly of the event will affect twelve day lines and six night lines from the night of Friday the 26th to 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 28. During the marathon celebration on Sunday the 28th and the complementary tests, Four EMT Madrid daytime lines will stop providing service. Line 3 (Puerta de Toledo-San Amaro), line 5 (Sol/Sevilla-ChamartÃn) and line 149 (Tribunal-Plaza de Castilla) will do so between the start of the service and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday; and line C03 (Puerta de Toledo-Argüelles) will do so between the start of the service and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
For vehicle drivers, given the expected influx of participants, a Mobility Plan has been designed with street closures and changes to public, mixed and resident parking. This Saturday, April 27, the central lanes of Paseo de Recoletos will be closed to traffic, from 00:00 a.m., and Paseo de la Castellana, from 9:30 p.m., in the section that runs from Plaza de Colón to Plaza de Doctor. 40,000 runners will participate in the Zurich Rock and Roll Running Series Madrid, the traditional Marathon of the capital, on April 28.
