Eight months in prison for blackmailing with intimate photos

Andorra la VellaA woman went to dinner with a man who had been introduced to her by a friend. They had a friendship, according to the woman, without any type of intimate relationship. At the end of the dinner, the man asked for the phone to call for them to come and get him. He took the device and locked himself in the restaurant toilet. Later, he returned the cell phone to her and they left.

The woman started receiving messages from a profile. First they were banal and later menacing. He warned her that if she blocked the contact, she would make public intimate photographs of him, lose her job and also upload them to Facebook. The woman suspected the man she had gone to dinner with potentially had access to her cell phone and content could have been forwarded.

He filed a police report about the threats. The phone study showed that 104 illicit connections had been made to the woman’s phone from 21 different IP connections. The police asked for the identification of the IP’s and it turned out that they all belong to a society of which the man who had the phone is a part.

The man admitted that he had tampered with the phone to gain access to the victim’s Facebook profile, intercepting his communications and conversations. 174 intimate images of the complainant and 155 non-intimate ones were found on the man’s phone.

He was sentenced to eight months in prison as the perpetrator of a major crime of illegal wiretapping and related conduct and a major crime of blackmail.
