  • WWE clearly values McIntyre, as shown by The Rock’s special announcement and reported generous contract offer.

Drew McIntyre has officially signed with WWE. The Rock confirmed the news on his Instagram account on Saturday, bringing an end to speculation that has followed McIntyre over the past few months.

The Rock shared a video on Instagram of a sword being hand-delivered to Drew while he was out eating at a restaurant with Nick Khan. In the caption of the video, The Rock wrote a kind message and congratulated McIntyre on his new deal.

The Rock wrote:

As you’re a man of yours – Congratulations
@dmcintyrewwe
on signing your new
@wwe
deal.As we talked about after your
#WrestleMania
match, I know this Scottish Claymore represents everything that you, your family and your country embody. Alba gu bràth 🗡️As you know, I wanted to personally hand deliver this gift to you at your meeting with Nick Kahn, but I had warm cheat meals and chilled tequila waiting for me 🗡️🥃😉Congrats again brother and cheers to hunger, passion, climbing that mountain and always entertaining our fans.- Final Boss

WWE has been heavily pushing McIntyre during recent shows and heading into WrestleMania 40 he was part of a huge program, winning the World Title (while only for a few minutes). McIntyre played coy the entire time about his contract status, but reports were that he had been in talks for many months.

News outlets had mixed reports that he had signed, while others wrote he hadn’t. All the while, it was reported that McIntyre was willing to let his contract expire so he could spend time with his family in Scotland. He had confidence he’d land on his feet if he ultimately left WWE.

Drew McIntyre’s WWE heel turn was a logical one, but his obsession with CM Punk has him turning into the person he despises.

Good To Have This Contract Finally Done

Fans will be excited to hear that McIntyre isn’t going anywhere. He’s the second big star to sign an extension this week, the first being Finn Balor. Losing McIntyre would have stung, especially if he was open to exploring his options and going to a promotion like AEW.

That The Rock announced the signing means WWE thinks highly of McIntyre and didn’t want him to go anywhere. The assumption is they backed up the Brinks truck and paid handsomely to keep The Scottish Warrior.

With Clash at the Castle heading to Scotland in June, WWE now has the biggest draw for that show under contract.
