Is Yellowstone on Paramount Network Tonight (May 5)?

Wondering if a new episode of Yellowstone airs on Parmount Network tonight, Sunday, May 5? If you’re a regular here, you can unfortunately predict what I’m about to say…

Sadly, no. Yellowstone isn’t returning with new episodes on May 5, but if you tune into Paramount Network on Sunday, you’ll get another exciting Bar Rescue marathon.

Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 Release Date:

We still don’t know Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2’s exact release date, but we do know the popular series is set to return at an unspecified date in November 2024 on Paramount Network. Earlier this year a Puck report alleged that “the final episodes” of Part 2 of were “already written” and filming was slated to begin “in a few weeks,” so here’s hoping the ranch is back in action.

Why Did Kevin Costner Leave Yellowstone?

After Yellowstone Season 5, Part 1 wrapped, explosive Yellowstone reports suggested that creator Taylor Sheridan and star/EP Kevin Costner were feuding. In May 2023, fans learned Costner would be leaving the Yellowstone franchise after Season 5 and he reportedly wouldn’t return for Season 5, Part 2 unless he approved of his character’s final storyline. Then, in June 2023, Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter he was “disappointed” by Costner’s exit. Sheridan said, “I don’t do fuck-you car crashes… Whether [Dutton’s fate] inflates [Costner’s] ego or insults is collateral damage that I don’t factor in with regard to storytelling.”

Per People, when Costner was asked if he’d be receiving a salary for the second half of Season 5, the actor detailed struggles experienced while negotiating, saying, “I will probably go to court over it.” Yikes!

Recently, Costner gave an update on his potential return in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying, “I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to…I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”

Last week, Costner’s co-star Luke Grimes, who plays his on-screen son, finally spoke on the actor’s decision to step back from the series ahead of Season 5, Part 2. As Decider reported, according to Grimes, Costner had become “busy” pursuing other “passion projects,” such as his upcoming Western Horizon: An American Saga. “Whatever happened there is unfortunate if it’s changed anything about how the show was going to unfold,” Grimes recently told The Independent. “At a certain point, you gotta do what you gotta do, man…You gotta do what you love.”

Will Yellowstone Have A Season 6?

In May 2023, it was confirmed that Yellowstone Season 5 would be the show’s final season, which means Season 6 likely won’t be a go, with or without Costner.

The Latest Yellowstone Spinoff Updates:

While our time with Yellowstone may almost be up, two new Yellowstone spinoffs — currently titled 1944 and 2024 — are also in the works to keep the Sheridan-verse going strong. Though specific plot details for 1944 or 2024 have yet to be released, Variety reports that 2024 is expected to begin airing after Yellowstone ends, and the show will allegedly feature “new cast members and locations with some crossover characters as well.” (This is also the series that may include Matthew McConaughey, who’s been rumored to star in a Yellowstone spinoff since April 2023.)

Yellowstone Streaming Platform:

Curious where you can stream old episodes while you impatiently await new ones? All five seasons of Yellowstone are currently available to stream on Peacock Premium and individual episodes and complete seasons of Yellowstone are available for purchase on Amazon.

When Does Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga Premiere In Theaters?

With all this chatter about Kevin Costner’s upcoming multi-part Western movie HorizonAn American Saga — which he starred in, directed, co-wrote, and produced — we thought we’d also give you an update on its theatrical premiere.

Horizon: An American Saga Part 1 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 28, with Part 2 releasing on August 16. Before the two-part movie hits theaters, however, the highly-anticipated Western will make its world premiere on May 19 at the Cannes Film Festival.

“I’ve been waiting for the right time to return and I’m proud to say that this time has come,” Costner told Variety. “Horizon, An American Saga is a story that began 35 years ago, and I can’t think of a better place than Cannes to reveal to the world the result of such a wonderful adventure. The French have always supported films and believed deeply in filmmaking. Just as I believe deeply in my film.”
