The April 15 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw saw Sami Zayn, the new Intercontinental Champion after beating Gunther at WrestleMania 40, taking on Chad Gable, a man who keeps getting close to the title himself and failing. Zayn beat Gable in the main event, but as he celebrated with his hometown crowd in Montreal, including hugging his wife who sat at ringside, a frustrated Chad Gable finally snapped, violently destroying Zayn to end the show. It was a shocking ending to Raw, and one that will hopefully keep Gable in the spotlight, but it wasn’t just the Montreal crowd who was upset about it. So was NBA great Charles Barkley.
Barkley was a guest on The Pat McAfee Show, where he discussed what went down in the Raw main event. Barkley said:
“I was impressed. I’ve known him, we’re not great friends, but I’ve known him for a long time. When I saw him, I was like, yo, man, he’s got that thing. When he’s working, I want to watch. He played the heel perfectly. But his charisma, man…I’ve been watching a lot lately.
“I was gonna fly up there and whoop Gable’s ass. That man whooped his ass in front of his wife and parents, man. I didn’t like that at all. You can’t kick a man’s ass in front of his wife and parents, man. I didn’t like the ending. You can’t kick a man’s ass at his house, man. That’s bad karma.” (h/t

Charles Barkley was having fun with it, showing that he’s a fan of WWE. He spoke not only about Chad Gable beating down Sami Zayn, but the company as a whole and other members of the roster, including The Rock. Barkley said:
“I’ve been watching y’all for the last few months, and let me tell you something, man. Has The Rock got the best personality, charisma on television? Obviously Roman and Cody and all those guys are fantastic. But The Rock has the best, like he got that thing. When you see a player, you’re like, oh yeah, he’s different than everybody else. When you see The Rock perform, you’re like, damn, he’s good. His personality, when he’s talking, you’re like, ‘Oh yeah, I gotta watch this.’
“I love Cody, I love Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. I love Roman Reigns and…Uso. But Rock, man, when he’s on television, he’s got that, he’s always had it, but for him to come back and do his thing like he did for all this stuff the last couple months, I’m like, damn, man. He got the charisma bug.”
