The employers’ associations CEOE and Cepyme This Wednesday they reproached the Ministry of Labor for the lack of “a real negotiation” on unemployment benefit reform and they have linked the urgency in signing the agreement to the elections in Catalonia.
In a statement, and given the agreement sealed this Wednesday between the Ministry of Labor and the UGT and CCOO unions, the employers explain that they had transmitted to the second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, that They would not participate in a public event of these characteristics.
“Our position is given because there has not been a true negotiation within the framework of social dialogue, but simply a consultation process,” they allege.
The CEOE points out that they had not received a new proposal from the ministry until this past Monday and that proposal lacked economic memory.
Before the elections
For the employers, it is something of “especially seriousness” at a time when the General State Budgets are extended and given the economic impact of the measures included in the document.
“In any case, it could seem that the urgency of the process for the signing this Wednesday (a day and a half) responds more to a political strategy before the elections next Sunday rather than the desire to reach a real agreement,” they add.
The employer reiterates in its statement the “bet” on social dialogue, as well as the will to coordinate to continue advancing common objectives, “which are economic prosperity, job creation and the achievement of the highest levels of social well-being for all.”
