Garda Essmay with the Pres students

STUDENTS from across Co Carlow got to check out what life is like as a member of An Garda Síochána when the local force threw the doors of the local station open to them for three days.
Carlow Community Policing Unit hosted a three-day transition year work experience programme recently, which a number of Presentation College students attended.
The first day featured speakers talking about the different units in An Garda Síochána. The students got a tour of Carlow Garda Station and also got to visit Carlow District Court.
The second day was a trip to the Garda College in Templemore, where the students were given a tour of the facility and took part in some self-defence exercises.
The final day incorporated a trip to Westmanstown Garda Centre, Co Dublin, where the potential gardaí saw the Mounted Unit, Water Unit and Dog Unit in action.
The students were delighted to be presented with certificates of achievement by Superintendent Anthony Farrell.
