Musician Bryan O’Connell

TALENTED multi-instrumentalist Bryan O’Connell has come up with the idea of organising social nights out for musicians from Carlow and further afield in a gig called Sandbox Social.
Bryan has teamed up with Carlow arts patron and bon viveur Bernard Jennings and Ukrainian community leader Yuliia Bereziuk to organise the gig that’s taking place in a small venue, Club d’Art in Pembroke, Carlow, which is owned by Bernard. The idea behind the gig is to bring musicians from Ukraine and any other country which are new to Co Carlow and who may not have gotten a chance to get to know like-minded musicians and artists. Bryan’s idea is for the musicians to get together, have a jam, maybe a beer and definitely some fun on the night of 24 April. Bryan, Yuliia and Bernard hope the night could be the start of a series of events for everyone interested.
“We would like to invite you to the first night of a monthly get-together for everyone. Music, chat and fun are the watchwords. We especially invite all of our new international friends to come as you are and enjoy the craic, a concept which is much better experienced than explained!” said Bryan.
“If you have a guitar or violin or sketchpad or dancing shoes bring them, but don’t worry if you don’t perform! We hope to have a musical guest each month. Many other possibilities will unfold over the coming months, but really this is about coming along and finding some space to be together for an evening and enjoy the moment of connection. We would be especially interested in hearing from musicians or anyone in a creative field. Also, we would love to hear from anyone who wants to contribute their time or sponsorship.”
The first chapter of this story will take place in the lovely surrounds of Pembroke Club D’Art on Wednesday 24 April at 8pm. If you’re interested in joining them, please email [email protected]
