CARLOW will be represented in Croke Park on Sunday when holders Dublin defend their Leinster LGFA Senior Football Championship title against Meath as Marion Hayden has been appointed as the match referee.
Hayden, who made history last year as the first female to referee an adult mens championship game in Carlow, continues to climb the refereeing ranks. Last November, she referee the Leinster LGFA Senior Club Football Final between Kilmacud Crokes and Dunboyne and also refereed the Leinster LGFA ‘A’ Minor final between Kildare and Longford. She has refereed games in the Leinster Senior Championship this year and this appointment is recognition for her impressive displays with the whistle. Best of luck Marion!
The news comes in a good week for referees in Carlow after James Foley had a fine game in charge of Kildare and Dublin in a pulsating Leinster Minor Football semi-final last Tuesday.
