AN investment of over €28m for building projects in schools has just been announced.
Thirteen schools around the county are to benefit from the funding, with the emphasis on the provision of classrooms for children with special needs.
The projects will also provide new and modernised facilities to help schools cater for growing populations in their areas.
The schools that were granted the funding are: Ballinkillen NS, Newtown/Dunleckny NS, Rathoe NS, Drumphea NS, St Mary’s NS, Tinryland NS, Glynn NS, St Michael’s NS, St Patrick’s NS, St Fhoirtcheirn NS and St Joseph’s NS, Carlow. St Laserian’s Special School in Carlow town and Borris Vocational School are also among the schools to benefit.
Welcoming the funding, local Fianna Fáil TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor said: “This significant investment in schools across Carlow demonstrates Fianna Fáil’s commitment in government to meet the evolving needs of our communities and addresses the pressing demand for new and modernised facilities, ensuring that our schools are well equipped to accommodate the growing student populations effectively.”
