The investigation included the participation of the Pennsylvania division of the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which identified a Canadian driver, arrested in the northeastern US state in September 2023, as the person responsible for the theft of the gold container. The individual, illegally in the United States, was arrested when he was discovered with weapons in a rental car.

Until now, Only a portion of the stolen gold and money could be recovered.. In a search in the province of Ontario, authorities found five cast gold bracelets valued at approximately $90,000.
