Cameron Guthrie return from injury, Geelong vs Carlton, Jeremy Cameron 600 goals

Welcome back to the big time, Cam Guthrie.

The Geelong midfielder wasted no time stamping his authority in his first game back in over a year, taking an incredible mark just 30 seconds into the opening term.

Guthrie, who hadn’t played a senior game since round six of the 2023 season due to toe and foot troubles, made his return during a pre-season match against Carlton, where he went down with a quad injury just seconds into the match.

He was subsequently ruled out for 8-10 weeks after the injury in late February.

Guthrie was named to face the Blues after just over eight weeks on the sideline, and after just one quarter, it felt like he’d never left.

He collected 14 touches to half-time.

“Great to see Guthrie back, Cam Guthrie,” Anthony Hudson said on Fox Footy.

The milestones didn’t stop there for the Cats, with Guthrie’s teammate, Jeremy Cameronbooting his 600th career goal in the second term.

A signature snap out of a busy pack inside 50 on his left boot, Cameron brought up goal 600 in signature fashion.

“He’s got to 600 and there are so many more left to come. What a player,” Hudson said on Cameron’s goal.

Cameron joined Geelong in 2021 after nine years at the Giants, before winning a flag in the blue and white hoops in his second year at the club.
