Braun Strowman made his WWE main roster debut after spending time in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), WWE’s developmental system at the time, and appeared at select NXT live events too. His debut came on WWE Monday Night Raw on August 24, 2015, as the newest member of the Wyatt Family clan. He became the “muscle” behind the group, who was billed as this seemingly unstoppable monster that couldn’t be stopped by anyone who stepped up to challenge Bray Wyatt or members of the Wyatt Family.

In 2016, as part of the WWE Draft, Braun Strowman was split up from The Wyatt Family, as he was drafted to the Raw brand, while the Wyatt Family were drafted to SmackDown. This kept the members apart for several years, aside from maybe one-off appearances and tandems during matches like the Royal Rumble or at a WWE Live Event. The friendship and bond between Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt continued beyond the ring throughout those years and the duo became close friends, so much so that Bray Wyatt made Braun Strowman a godfather to his children.

By 2020, Braun Strowman became a well-established star in the main event scene, and Bray Wyatt had changed and evolved his character into the monstrous “Fiend” persona. Strowman defeated Wyatt at Money in the Bank to retain the WWE Universal Championship. The rivalry continued into a cinematic “Wyatt Swamp Fight” at Extreme Rules, with Bray Wyatt using multiple illusions and mind games to defeat Strowman. Their feud came to an end at SummerSlam, with Strowman dropping the WWE Universal Championship to Bray Wyatt in a Falls Count Anywhere match, which is most remembered with the return of Roman Reigns, as Reigns brutally attacked both men with a steel chair to end the show.

When asked about how the Wyatt Family changed his career, Strowman also made it crystal clear how the Wyatt’s extended past the squared circle. He said:

“It changed my entire life. I was this kid who was told I was never going to make it. Bullied. Fat kid growing up. And having a group of guys, three talented, unbelievable human beings, take me under their wing and show me the ways through this crazy business. Words can’t really explain how grateful I am because I’m not where I am without those guys.”
