Boxing Agent Supports Gervonta Davis’ Allegations Against Floyd Mayweather Regarding Dubai Debts

Highlights

  • Rick Glaser supports Gervonta Davis’s claims about Floyd Mayweather’s Dubai debt, adding credence to the ongoing controversy.
  • Davis alleges Mayweather is being held by Dubai over unpaid debts unrelated to boxing, with Glaser echoing these assertions.
  • Mayweather has not directly addressed the situation, instead engaging in a public exchange with Davis and others involved in the dispute.

Renowned boxing agent Rick Glaser has entered the fray surrounding the controversy swirling around boxing icon Floyd Mayweather’s extended stay in Dubai, UAE. Glaser, a stalwart of the professional boxing scene for over four decades, has seemingly sided with Gervonta Davis, echoing the latter’s recent assertions concerning Mayweather’s situation.

Davis, the reigning WBA lightweight champion, has a storied history with Mayweather, having been groomed under his wing and formerly signed to Mayweather Promotions. However, their relationship has been marred by discord in recent years.

Rick Glaser Backs Gervonta Davis’ Claims About Floyd Mayweather’s Dubai Debt

Mayweather Remains In Dubai

The crux of the matter revolves around allegations made by Davis suggesting that Mayweather is being detained in Dubai due to unpaid debts. Glaser reinforced these claims on X, stating,

“Just got off the phone with my guy in Dubai, he told me that #Floyd #Mayweather is definitely being held by the Government court system there as he owes a substantial amount of money in Dubai. They take indebtedness over there very seriously. Was told the debt is #unassociated with #Boxing. Floyd’s desperately trying to work things out, to no avail so far. So @Gervontaa #TankDavis is correct that Floyd’s being held there!!!”

The dispute between Mayweather and Davis came to the forefront following a heated exchange between Mayweather and Devin Haney’s father, Bill Haney, after the Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia boxing match in April 2024. Davis, a long-time rival of Garcia and Haney, took to social media to criticize Mayweather, alleging financial impropriety on his part.

Glaser’s support for Davis’s claims adds weight to the ongoing controversy. He emphasized that indebtedness is taken seriously in Dubai, and while Mayweather is reportedly attempting to resolve the issue, he remains in legal limbo.

Davis, who is slated to defend his WBA lightweight title against Frank Martin on June 15, has continued to speak out on the matter, even offering to enlist the help of hip-hop artist 50 Cent to facilitate Mayweather’s return to the US.
