Andorra la VellaThe general councilor and president of the PS, Pere Baró, has entered a written question about the tourist tax. On this occasion, Baró has requested to know which projects have been financed so far with the collection of the tax during 2023, how many have been at an environmental level, and what is the forecast for 2024.
The General Counsel has also highlighted that the tourist tax “doesn’t work” and that the forecasts are wrong due to miscalculations by the Government – such as the fact of counting overnight stays at “friends and relatives” in the collection of said tax – and that this must be allocated to tourism training projects “because Andorra wants quality tourism and needs investment in education”.
Baró emphasized that, first of all, the data must be correct and that subsequently it must be seen “what is failing” and why it is being applied incorrectly. Likewise, the social democratic leader has shown concern about the non-registration of visitors in tourist accommodation, a fact that can be translated into a lack of control and a lack of security.
