Andorra la VellaThe government approved this Thursday, at the proposal of the Minister of Social Affairs and Civil Service, Trini Marin, the modification of the Magna Card Regulation, which regulates the granting and use of the card for the elderly, which allows access to economic, social and cultural benefits within the Andorran territory.
The new regulation eliminates the limitation of the magna card to nationals and holders of a residence and work authorization, and extends its use to all seniors with legal, effective and permanent residence in the Principality. On the other hand, the validity of this card is extended from five to ten years and it is expected that the procedure to obtain or renew it can also be carried out through the Government’s electronic headquarters. Finally, the new regulations incorporate improvements in some sections of the text that are currently poorly defined or confusing to facilitate understanding and application.
Apart from these issues, it should be remembered that in order to be the holder of the magna card – as already established by the previous regulation – the following requirements must be met: be 65 years of age or older, or be between 60 and 65 years of age and benefit from a widow’s or invalidity pension group A3 or equivalent from the Andorran Social Security Fund. On the other hand, early retirees or those who have voluntarily opted for early retirement in accordance with the social security regulations in force in Andorra cannot obtain the magna card. However, people who have reached the age of 60 and whose retirement has been declared ex officio have the right to be holders of the magna card as long as they provide the certificate from the entity that declared it.
