Adam Copeland has been a key part of AEW programming since he joined the company last year, but how much longer will the Rated-R Superstar be All Elite?

Adam Copeland Reveals When His AEW Deal Expires

Copeland is the current TNT Champion, which is a title he won at the end of his epic rivalry with his real-life friend Christian Cage. Besides that, Copeland has been competing regularly on television in tag team and singles matches, getting the chance to work with a lot of the younger talent in the company.

Adam Copeland Vs Christian Cage Is AEW’s Most Underappreciated Feud Ever

Adam Copeland vs Christian Cage could have just been a fun nostalgia match between friends, but AEW has turned it into a riveting rivalry.

He’s proven that there’s plenty more gas in the tank, with Copeland being more than capable of working against the current generation of wrestlers. Even though he’s made it clear that retirement is coming, AEW fans don’t have to worry just yet as Copeland revealed to “Insight With Chris Van Vliet” how much longer he has on his current deal.

“I have about a year and a half left right now. A lot of business trying to get done in that time, there’s a lot of people I want to work with in that time, and I look at it already and I think in the six months I’ve been there I think I’m close to 20 matches already.” (h/t

Adam Copeland Plans To Retire After This Run

Copeland is currently in the midst of his second run as a wrestler, which at one point a lot of fans didn’t think would be possible. Copeland originally retired in 2011 due to what was seen as a career-ending injury at the time, but he managed to make a surprise return in 2019 at the WWE Royal Rumble.

Even though he opted to make his comeback with WWE, Copeland had been in talks with AEW dating back to that point. But just because he’s enjoying his work now, and has wanted to be part of the company for many years doesn’t mean that he is going to keep wrestling for a long time.

While anything is technically possible, the WWE Hall Of Famer has made it clear that he intends to hang up his boots at the end of his current contract.

“When I retire this time, I truly — I’m going to come home and be dad, and occasionally act, and walk my dogs.”

How Copeland will decide to go out remains to be seen, but considering how much effort Tony Khan put into Sting’s retirement match there’s certainly going to be high expectations on what the company will do for him.
