A worker reports that he suffered labor abuse from 2007 to 2019

336,394 euros. This is the price for having an employee for years in abusive conditions with practices bordering on slavery. The work was on a farm and the abuse lasted twelve years.

The employer acknowledged that there were abusive conditions towards the employee by having worked unpaid hours or not enjoying all the holidays. He agreed to a criminal order “because he was aware that his behavior was not limited to not paying overtime or part of vacation, since this circumstance does not lead to criminal consequences on its own.”

Despite having accepted the criminal ordinance with a conditional sentence, linked to paying compensation, for abusive working conditions, the employer appealed to the Superior Court.

The sentence states that the worker suffered abusive conditions from 2007 to 2019 and the employer “he was not interested in being able to get a work permit. So he could abuse him as he saw fit.” And since I didn’t pay him overtime, I didn’t want to make him a contract either. “An employment contract that excluded the payment of overtime would be against the law.”

The cost of everything that has not been paid to him for twelve years due to the overworked hours and the lack of holidays rises to 336,394 euros.
