This may seem like déjà vu for many fans and a remembrance of a fun time in WWE when we were treated with mysterious QR codes that appeared throughout episodes of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown that eventually led to the return of Bray Wyatt at Extreme Rules 2022. Sadly, Bray Wyatt passed away in August 2023. However, it appears that Uncle Howdy, played by Bray’s brother, Bo Dallas, has picked up the pieces and will carry on the Wyatt legacy. The QR codes we’ve been treated with in the past several weeks are fun yet bittersweet, teasing that Uncle Howdy isn’t “coming alone”.

A Bray Wyatt Documentary Hinted At The Return of Uncle Howdy

The beginning of these QR codes can be traced back to the Peacock documentary covering the life and career of the late Bray Wyatt, which featured members of Bray’s family, WWE colleagues, and others paying tribute to his legacy. At the conclusion of the documentary, we were left with a unique teaser showing how the legacy started by Bray Wyatt will carry on beyond his death.
The lantern was lit and a silhouette of Uncle Howdy appeared in a flash as the credits closed on the documentary. Fans became excited and knew then that we were in store for another wild and crazy adventure courtesy of Uncle Howdy… or at least, we assumed it to be Uncle Howdy. Beginning on Monday Night Raw following WrestleMania 40, the QR codes and the teases began to show.

The QR Codes Make It Seem As If Uncle Howdy Won’t Be Alone

- The QR code even showed up during a Triple H segment
There were two significant teases that happened on the April 8 Monday Night Raw, one that happened to the audience watching at home and the other for those in attendance. The first tease occurred during a promo featuring Bronson Reed. As Reed was talking to the crowd to promote his match, a quick flash occurred in the lower part of the screen with a message and a QR code. The message on the screen read, “Hello”.
The other message occurred during intermission, as the track “Nightbird” by Marti Amado began to play throughout the arena for no apparent reason for roughly 30 seconds, as the lights faded to darkness and the “fireflies” came out in the audience.
On the April 12 SmackDown, during a Women’s Tag Match featuring Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair against Piper Niven and Chelsea Green, a message appeared on the lower corner of the screen that read, “You forgot about us“, along with another teaser that occurred throughout the arena just as we saw on Raw. Given the message, we can assume that more than one entity is coming to WWE in the near future.
A QR coded message was sent out on the April 15 Monday Night Raw that led to the following message: “Time to wake up. Take my hand. Things will be better. Trust me.” along with pictures of a crow, which is a symbol of the resurrection of a soul brought back to put the wrong things right.
Things took a much darker and mysterious turn on the April 19 SmackDown. During Triple H’s entrance to the ring, another QR code appeared. The code took us to a message of what seemed to be a hooded figure staring up into the clouds. A hidden link appeared within the message with coordinates reading “45.7455 N, 14.4674 E”, which sends us to the location of a cave in Slovenia. Another cryptic message read after this said: “I am set free. Out of the miry clay. Opened their eyes. While you did nothing.”
The mystery continued to unravel and intensify as we headed into the April 22 Monday Night Raw.

Right before Chad Gable began his speech to The Alpha Academy on Raw, another QR code flash appeared. The message sent showed the following to the WWE Universe.
The dark message appears to show that Bray’s memory is indeed alive and well, and that his legacy is going to be carried on through another entity. Perhaps it is truly Uncle Howdy and/or an army of soldiers that will carry out his legacy, including a possibly returning Alexa Bliss. One thing is for certain: this wild and crazy train is far from over, as more messages are likely to come in the next several weeks.
