A canoe with 116 migrants on board arrived in Gran Canaria this Saturday after being intercepted at dawn while sailing towards the archipelago after leaving several days ago from somewhere on the sub-Saharan coast. Ten had to be transferred to health centers, one in critical condition.
Maritime Rescue sources have reported that shortly before 2:00 a.m. the Civil Guard informed the Rescue Control Center in Las Palmas of a suspicious echo, possible patera or cayuco, 14 miles south of Maspalomas.
