A 13-year-old boy is in serious condition after throwing himself this Thursday from the second-floor window of his school, in the Madrid district of Carabanchel. Although he survived the fall, the minor ssuffers broken lower extremities, bruises and possible internal injuries.
The events occurred around 10:00 a.m. in the Our Lady of the Pious Schools school, located in the Eugenia de Montijo street, in Madrid. Apparently, the boy opened one of the windows in the school hallway and rushed into the void, falling standing on the sidewalk. Several pedestrians helped the minor along with the center’s janitor, who alerted the teachers, until the emergency services arrived.
The Samur doctors arrived at the scene and, after immobilizing the minor, escorted him through the Municipal police to the Hospital Niño Jesús de Madrid, where he remains admitted in serious condition. For their part, some of the student’s colleagues received psychological care from Samur’s team for his shock after the unexpected incident.
According to advance The worldan investigation has been opened by the center’s management and the Educational Inspection of the Community of Madrid. Both the minor’s teachers and classmates have received a psychological assistance service after what happened.
According to the first investigations by the guardian agents of the Municipal Police, the child would have made that decision for fear of their parents’ reaction after knowing that he had taken bad grades. Thus, at least they have assured it from their school environment to the aforementioned police sources, who, for the moment, rule out other hypotheses.
The Madrid’s community last March activated a guide aimed at families and teachers for the suicide prevention. He Ministry of Health has the line 024 telephone number to attend to these cases.
