6G already has an official logo, this is what the sixth generation of mobile connectivity will look like

The Asociation 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP, for its acronym) shares the official image with which the sixth generation of mobile connectivityalso known as 6Gwhile working on its technical specifications to adapt said network to the needs of each user.

As can be seen in the image below, The logo is made up of a six and a letter ‘G’ to drive the adoption of the sixth generation of mobile connectivity, mainly in efficiency, traffic capacity and cost. Furthermore, 3GPP intends to work on the transition to 6G networks this year and the IMT-2030 framework.

What is 6G

6G technology has not yet been launched, however, its name 6G refers to the fact that it is the sixth generation of mobile connectivity and will be the successor to 5G. It is expected to offer faster connection speeds, ultra-low latency, and the ability to support an extraordinary number of simultaneously connected devices.

On the other hand, 6G plans to deployment in 2030 with pilot tests scheduled for 2026. However, although the launch and commercialization horizon of 6G technology remains indicative, experts consider that the next decade will be crucial to deploy this network.

Future innovative uses of 6G

Through new smart networks, large companies hope to optimize communications between devices, increasing the precision of information transfer, and consuming less energy. Thanks to this, humanity will be able to work on completely innovative projects that are currently just futuristic concepts:

  • HoloPortation: They will be high-resolution holograms that can be sent by smartphones, creating new forms of augmented reality and transforming the way we communicate from the current distance.
  • Collaborative remote surgeries with ‘zero-lag’: 6G would save lives in emergencies in which a surgeon could not access the body he is operating on.
  • Avatars for the metaverse: Mark Zuckerberg put the concept on everyone’s lips and 6G could help create high-resolution digital twins so that users could enter a digital world.
  • Home automation and robotics: It would serve to consolidate IoT devices that are increasingly present in homes, and could even be a key step for the development of autonomous vehicles.
