Dolphins forward Felise Kaufusi is set to miss next weekend’s highly-anticipated Brisbane derby against the Brisbane Broncos after copping a three-match ban from the NRL match review committee.
Kaufusi was put on report twice and sin-binned during Friday night’s 36-20 victory over Newcastle.
The former Storm forward was put on report for a high shot in the 63rd minute and sent to the sin bin five minutes later for a late hit on Newcastle halfback Jackson Hastings.
The NRL match review committee handed down a grade 2 charge for “dangerous contact”; because it was Kaufusi’s third offence, he received a three-match suspension on an early plea, he can cop a four-match ban if he challenges and loses.
Meanwhile, Sydney Roosters centre Joseph Manu is facing time on the sidelines after with a grade 2 charge for his high tackle on Rabbitohs rival Isaiah Tass during Friday night’s clash in Sydney.
The hit sparked a melee between Manu and Rabbitohs forward Michael Chee Kam, resulting in both players being sin-binned during the second half of Sydney’s 20-18 victory.
