Colorado gold mine victim identified as Teller County man

A 46-year-old Teller County resident was killed when a mine elevator malfunctioned approximately 500 feet underground at a tourist attraction near Cripple Creek, sheriff’s officials said Friday.

Patrick Weier, an employee at Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine, died after an elevator equipment malfunction around noon Thursday, Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell announced at a briefing Friday.
