Colorado Mines football routs Adams State for 2nd straight RMAC win

Colorado Mines football routs Adams State for 2nd straight RMAC win

The Colorado School of Mines football team is done playing nip-and-tuck games away from Golden — at least for now.

The Orediggers submitted their strongest offensive performance of the season Saturday in Alamosa, piling up a season-high 638 yards in a 56-14 rout of Adams State in RMAC play.

Quarterback Evan Foster did it all, completing 25 of 31 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns, running for 57 yards on four carries, and even reeling in a 17-yard scoring pass from Landon Walker on a trick play.

The 12th-ranked Orediggers (6-1, 4-1 RMAC) rumbled for 288 yards on the ground against out-manned Adams State (0-7, 0-5 RMAC), which lost starting quarterback Chase Nelson in the first half and never recovered. The win marked the first time this season that the Orediggers won a road game by a margin greater than three points. Their lone loss came at Colorado Mesa on Oct. 5.

Mines receivers Flynn Schiele (133 yards, 2 TDs) and Max McLeod (111 yards, 1 TD) both topped 100 yards receiver for the second game in a row. Walker added a rushing touchdown on top of his scoring pass to Foster, while Braelon Tate and Joseph Capra both added rushing scores.

The Orediggers scored touchdowns on 6 of 7 possessions between the second and fourth quarters to turn a 14-7 game into a runaway blowout.

Next up is a showdown with unbeaten Western Colorado (7-0, 5-0) at Marv Kay Stadium on Oct. 26.
