What is the flag icon in WhatsApp?
The flag icon in WhatsApp is related to temporary messages function of the platform.
When you turn on temporary messages in a chat, messages are automatically deleted after a set period (24 hours, 7 days or 90 days). However, If you want to keep a specific message from being deleted, you can mark it with the flag icon. This indicates that the message will remain in the chat even after other temporary messages have disappeared.
Certainly, It is one of the most contradictory WhatsApp options– Its purpose is to preserve a specific message, preventing it from being automatically deleted, which goes against the main idea of temporary messages, whose objective is precisely to disappear after an established time to maintain ephemeral and private conversations.
