  • The upcoming match between Tyson and Paul will be an exhibition with ‘real fight’ rules.
  • Mike Tyson expresses confidence in his abilities against Jake Paul, dismissing any concerns about the matchup.

WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury has offered his perspective on the unconventional matchup between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

Paul, known for his controversial rise in the boxing, has set his sights on yet another high-profile opponent in Tyson, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Despite Tyson being far past his prime at 58 years old, the announcement of the showdown on July 20 in Dallas, TX, has captured global attention and sparked concerns over Tyson’s well-being against the younger and faster Paul.

However, Fury sees the fight as a unique opportunity for the sport to attract a broader audience. Speaking to ‘The Stomping Ground’, Fury expressed his support for the spectacle, acknowledging the significance of having a boxing legend like Tyson face off against a YouTube sensation like Paul.

“I think it’s fantastic for boxing,”

Fury remarked. “You’ve got a legend in Mike Tyson. You’ve got a YouTube boxer. He has come into the game and blew it up and he’s got millions of followers and millions of views and millions of eyes. Good, bad or indifferent. Some people love him, some people hate him. So, I think it’s a really good spectacle for boxing. Brings a lot of people to the game.”

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Is An Exhibition

It Appears It Will Be Similar To The Roy Jones 2020 Fight

Mike Tyson recently revealed that the fight will officially be an exhibition but will have ‘real fight’ rules. The decision ultimately rests with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), however, it appears that the fight won’t go on their professional records. As with his fight with Roy Jones, it will likely not have an official winner declared.

In an interview with Sean Hannity, Tyson said the following about the fight. Tyson said: “This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you will not see any of the laws that we are fighting under, this is a fight.

“I don’t think he’s faster than me. I’ve seen a YouTube of him at 16 doing weird dances, that’s not the guy I’m going to be fighting.”

He continued, “This guy’s gonna come, he’s gonna try and hurt me which I’m accustomed to and he’s gonna be greatly mistaken. Right now, I’m scared to death but as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality, and in reality, I’m invincible.”
