For months all the polls had predicted an election day that was going to end without a clear result. The polls pointed to a technical tie in the swing statesseven pivotal states that would extend the count for days or even weeks. The lack of official data threatened that there would be an accusation of fraud before some polling stations. However, none of that has happened. Former president and Republican candidate donald trump he will almost certainly return to the Oval Office after having beaten Kamala Harris in six of these seven territories. Although the American media is reluctant to definitively hand over the states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan, the difference between both candidates and the trend in favor of the tycoon point to a more comfortable electoral victory than expected.
With tonight’s results, Donald Trump removes the thorn from four years ago, when he could not revalidate his presidency after losing with Joe Biden. That defeat led him to denounce electoral fraud that he was never able to prove and that led to the assault of the Capitol by his followers. He never wanted to admit the Democrat’s victory, not even when asked during the debates of this electoral campaign. But none of this (nor the rest of the pending cases against him) has prevented him from stepping on the carpet of the White House again. The victory of the Republican Party is capital, because it has not only won the necessary electoral majority and the popular vote, but also has managed to regain control of the Senate and predictably the House of Representatives. A circumstance that will give you total power to do and undo as you wish for years to come.
It is still not clear when the winner will be officially known in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada, but with different recount percentages, in most of them Trump is in the lead, so he is getting closer to the goal of reaching to the 270 that give victory.
