The Civil Guard has already arrested three people allegedly involved in the altercations that occurred in Paiporta last Sunday, during the visit of the kings, the president of the Government and the president of the Valencian Community. One of the detainees was brought to justice on Tuesday night and has been released without charge as a defendant in a case of attack, public disorder and damage. The other two were arrested this Wednesday and both are awaiting trial.
Sources from the Ministry of the Interior have clarified that the three detainees are “presumably related to damage to the vehicle of the President of the Government and another of his escort.” The judge on duty in Torrent has provisionally released the man arrested on Tuesday at Civil Guard after hitting a car belonging to Pedro Sánchez’s entourage with a broom last Sunday in Paiporta (Valencia).
The detainee, whose initials are DCC, is a resident of Paiporta. This is a man of 41 yearsand of which there is no known connection with any ultra group.
He is accused of one crime of attack and another of public disorderbut the investigator of the Investigative Court number 3 of Torrent has decided to release him without imposing precautionary measures, “although the arrested person continues to be investigated within the framework of previous proceedings opened to investigate the facts.” This Tuesday there were two more arrests and the Civil Guard continues to investigate the events that occurred on Sunday in Paiporta, ground zero of the tragedy.
During the visit of Pedro Sánchez, Carlos Mazón and Kings Felipe VI and Letizia to the area, several citizens insulted, shouted and threw different objects at the authorities. One of the objects, apparently a stick, hit the back of the president of the Governmentwho was evacuated from the area immediately. Precisely then, while Sánchez’s entourage was leaving the place, several citizens hit two of the cars.
In the following days, the head of the Executive has alluded to “perfectly organized ultra groups”“very marginal”, and has asked to differentiate the “legitimate anger” of the neighbors from the attacks that are now being investigated. However, until now the Civil Guard has not pointed out any organized group that was behind the altercations.
